CLASS OF 2020

Taylor Ewert is one of the most decorated athletes in Beavercreek history. She was named the 2019-20 Gatorade National Athlete of the Year and the Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. As a senior, Ewert completed a remarkable double at the 2020 Division I Indoor State Championship, winning the 1600 meters in 4:52.02 and the 3200 meters in 10:34.79. Her senior outdoor season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ewert captured the 2019 OHSAA Division I outdoor state championship in the 3200 meters and earned another individual state placement during her career. She was also a two-time state-placing relay member, including a state runner-up finish. Her championship résumé includes four individual and one relay GWOC titles plus Track Athlete of the Year GWOC Eastern Division, two individual and two relay district championships, one individual district runner-up finish, one individual and two relay regional championships, and one individual regional runner-up finish.

On the national stage, Ewert won the 2000-meter steeplechase at the 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor while also finishing second in the mile and the 4x800-meter relay. Her personal-best steeplechase performance ranked No. 7 in United States high school history. She also ranked among the all-time national top 35 in the indoor two-mile and top 50 in the outdoor mile.

During the 2020 indoor season, Ewert ran 10:18.94 in the two-mile at the University of Kentucky High School Invitational, the nation’s third-fastest performance by a high school athlete that winter. She recorded United States top-10 performances in three indoor events in 2020 and top-20 performances in three outdoor events in 2019.

Ewert also achieved unprecedented success in race walking, establishing seven national high school records and seven American under-20 records. She holds Beavercreek outdoor school records in the 1600 meters, 3200 meters and 4x800-meter relay, along with indoor school records in the 1600 meters, 3200 meters and 4x400-meter relay.

Following her career at Beavercreek, Ewert continued competing at the collegiate level at the University of Arkansas and Michigan State University. Her combination of state championships, national achievements and record-setting performances established her as one of the premier distance athletes of her generation.
