Head Coach, 1936-1950
Coach Merlin Eidemiller graduated from New Carlisle High School before earning a bachelor’s degree from Manchester College and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University. He taught at Beavercreek High School from 1936 through 1950, serving as the head track and field coach throughout his entire tenure and as the head basketball coach from 1945 to 1950.
Under Coach Eidemiller’s leadership, the 1943 Beavercreek boys’ track and field team finished as the Ohio state runner-up. As of 2026, it remains the highest state team finish in Beavercreek High School history for either the boys’ or girls’ program. He also coached three individual state-championship performances in the mile: Bob Keller in 1943 and Ed Haskins in 1949 and 1950.
Eidemiller became a registered track and field official in 1950 and was inducted into the OHSAA Officials Hall of Fame in 1992, recognizing his decades of service and contributions to the sport.
