HEAD COACH 2015 - 2021: Assistant Coach 2013
James Weckesser joined the Beavercreek Track & Field program as an assistant coach in 2013 and served as head coach from 2015 through 2021. During his tenure, he led the boys’ team to a conference championship and guided the girls’ team to two conference championships and a district championship. He also coached two individual state champions and became the first Beavercreek coach to lead both the boys’ and girls’ teams to Greene County championships in the same year.
Weckesser was named the 2017 GWOC East Division Boys Coach of the Year and the 2019 GWOC East Division Girls Coach of the Year.
Under Weckesser’s leadership, the program regularly included more than 200 athletes and experienced significant growth in both participation and team success. He took particular pride in leaving the program in a stronger position and creating a meaningful experience for every athlete.
“I was proud that both the boys and girls won the GWOC while I was there. I’m proud that I felt like we left the program in better shape than when we started. We had more than 200 kids almost every year. I’m most proud of the fact that we grew in numbers and that the kids experienced something special.”
