CHARLES “Eddie” HAWKINS

CLASS OF 1950

Charles “Eddie” Hawkins became the first two-time state champion in Beavercreek Track & Field history by winning consecutive state championships in the mile in 1949 and 1950.

Hawkins set the Ohio high school state record in the mile during his 1949 championship season before successfully defending his title with another first-place finish in 1950. Following his second championship victory, he received his state medal from legendary Olympic champion Jesse Owens.

His back-to-back titles and record-setting performance established Hawkins as one of the earliest and most significant figures in Beavercreek Track & Field history.
